Maria Arendt was born in Moscow in 1968 and lived in the artists’ community of Maslovka until 1985. When only 6 years old, she participated in her first ever private exhibition by Moscow avant-gardists held in the apartment of Nikolay Andriyevich.

1980s, she started to practice art creation under the guidance of her grandmother Ariadna Arendt, a prominent animalist sculptor, and then graduated from the Moscow Kalinin School of Applied Arts in 1988. In 1989–94 she created her first easel graphic works and collages and studied icon painting. She has been exhibiting regularly since 1989 and joined the Monumental Art section of the Moscow Union of Artists in 1997. Member of the Moscow branch of the International Federation of Artists (IFA UNESCO) since 1998. Her work has been purchased by Russian museums and private collectors; among others Brian Eno (New York), Alexander Glazer (Toronto) and others in Toulouse and London.
